Interactive Storytelling

Technique Features: Animation and Conditional Logic

Storytelling allows learners to imagine themselves in situations, where they can work through problems faced by others in similar circumstances.

In this interactive sample, created as part of a charter school orientation program for students taking their second attempt at High School, I use conditional logic to let characters in a story speak to each other.

Gamified Assessment

Technique Features: Variables and Triggers

What’s the difference between a game and a test? A game has an opponent who, like you, has something to lose. We like games and we remember them for many reasons, one of which being that a game has stakes.

This sample is taken from a dress code activity in which a sarcastic mascot presents basic policy requirements, then challenges the learner to compete in a zero-sum game for some shiny objects

Pedagogically Informed Structure

Technique Features: Pedagogical Models and Design Cycles

“XAPI Fundamentals for E-Learning Development” is a part of a training program intended to prepare learning developers to use some of the more advanced data generating features in Articulate Storyline. As a portfolio sample, this course offers additional insight into the pedagogy I apply to all the courses I build, because the subject matter is itself the construction of an e-course. Feel free to experience the course sample or take a guided tour of the process behind it.

Dynamic Templates

Technique Features: AI Image Generation, Animation and Conditional Logic
Better than Power Point… Or what’s the point?   A little bit of motion added to some custom vectors created in Illustrator or some royalty-free images created in Midjourney can go a long way. Add to that some AI voice narration from Elevenlabs and some custom logic, and your course will really start to stand out. This sample is a template built for a Design Accessibility course. Take a look!
